How to make watercolors with Clementines Peels

How to Recycle Tangerine Peels

Clementine season has arrived and seems here to stay! This year the tree is full of fruit, with our most generous harvest in three years.

This sweet citrus is delicious, but it has to be peeled. What can we do with the peels instead of throwing them away?

1 — Tangerine-scented cleaning products

Place the peels in white vinegar and leave them to macerate for a few days. The result is a natural, fragrant household cleaner.

2 — Natural mosquito repellent

Tangerine peels can also be placed directly in the soil near plants. As they decompose, they release nutrients and may help keep harmful insects away.

3 — Watercolour and dye

Yes, although their dyeing power is weak. They produce very soft colours ranging from pale yellow to light brown and may have the greatest impact in dyeing. In watercolours, use them subtly for highlights, light details or reflections, diluting the paint or applying very thin layers.

The step-by-step process is shown in this video.
