The Project
BlancArt is a project dedicated to creative research and experimentation with plant and mineral materials. By collecting plants, earths and natural residues, we transform what nature offers into pigments and products of 100% natural origin.
The work is entirely handmade and includes:
- Extraction of plant and mineral pigments;
- Handmade paints and fine-art materials;
- Natural dyeing;
- Natural cosmetics and ecological everyday products developed with the same principles of sustainability and respect for nature;
- Occasional workshops on ecological cleaning solutions and natural detergents, in partnership with certified trainers;
- Workshops and training (online and in person) on pigments, dyeing and ecological practices connected to colour and natural matter.
The Process
Each step is carried out by hand, respecting the natural rhythm of our raw materials. We produce in small batches, using artisanal techniques and 100% natural materials, free from pesticides and sourced from responsible cultivation.
Each creation is the result of a Slow Art practice, revealing unique colours and textures that vary with the season and the nature of each pigment.
For us, creating responsibly is a way of caring.
The same principle guides all our practices — from pigment extraction to the making of natural and sustainable products — reflecting respect for the environment and our planet.
“Every practice needs time. Our practices are inspired by Slow Art, where the process is as important as the result.”
Raw Material
Nature is our starting point.
Local plants reveal unique shades that tell stories of the territory and the seasons.
Our practice is based on the principles of circular economy and environmental respect.
We work with local and natural raw materials, from native plants and minerals from the Oeste region to organic residues, seeking low-impact ecological solutions.
Nothing is wasted: every extraction, residue and shade is part of a natural and continuous cycle. Creating responsibly is, for us, a way of caring.
“The artisanal character makes each creation unique and unrepeatable.
Variations in colour, texture and form are not imperfections, but the signature of nature: the living expression of time, human gesture and balance with the environment.”
The Space
We also have a space where it is possible to take part in workshops, visit the production studio and discover the cultivation areas.
The space hosts workshops and training on natural pigment extraction, plant dyeing, colour practices, natural cosmetics, handmade soap and ecological cleaning products, available in person and online.
We also offer experiences with accommodation, providing a full immersion: learning, creating and discovering the Oeste region, its natural heritage and its colours.
About the Founder
BlancArt is developed by Tânia Blanquart, an artist, educator and researcher passionate about natural colour and the links between art, science and ecology.
Based in Portugal’s Oeste region since 2021, Tânia found, between France and Portugal, a way to bring together two worlds — the rigour of research and the sensitivity of handmade practice.
Creator of the Minibo activity in France, she now continues this path with BlancArt: a space where nature is transformed into art.
She also works in environmental education and awareness for an everyday life free from hazardous chemicals, through workshops on natural cosmetics and ecological cleaning products that combine traditional knowledge and sustainable innovation.
Today, she divides her time between teaching and the educational farm, where she develops projects and workshops that connect art, ecology and education through eco-sustainable practices.
